I once heard a story about legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden who led his teams to 10 NCAA Championships in a 12 year period (including 7 in a row!). Imagine you are Coach Wooden. How would you approach your players at the start of the new season? Well... legend has it that at the start of each season, when his team returned from winning the championship, Coach Wooden would start the first practice with the lesson of "today we are going to learn how to tie our shoes". The lesson being that 'no matter where you are in your journey, it is still important to go back to the basics.'. I have tried to find a record of this story and I haven't been able to find it yet. However, I still love the story because it's a humble reminder that we are all beginners at some stage and have room to grow.... Where are you "beginning" in your running/walking journey?
